Located 120 kilometres south of Hanoi, Cuc Phuong national park was established in 1962 and is the oldest national park in Vietnam. Consisting of more than 200 square kilometres of tropical forest and many grottoes, the reserve is rich in wildlife and natural beauty and also possesses historical significance, as prehistoric tools and ancient tombs have been discovered in some of the cave.
Day 1 Hanoi - Tam Coc - Cuc Phuong (L, D)
From Hanoi, we drive southward to Tam Coc (three caves), it will take us around 3 hours included short beak to rest. In Tam Coc we will enjoy rowing boat to visit the beautiful setting area, which is called Halong Bay on land. After lunch our journey continues to Cuc Phuong National Park. Once we have settled into our rooms in the head quarter of the park, we will visit the Endangered Primate Rescue centre and learn a little of the work that is being done to preserve the endangered native primates.
Day 2 Cuc Phuong National Park (B, L, D)
Rising this morning with the sounds of the forest all around us, after breakfast we check out and take a drive to the center of the park, where we commence our today trek through the lush rainforest, pass centuries old trees and to the cave once inhabited by prehistoric humans. Returning to our accommodation in the heart of the forest we will spend a second night drifting off to sleep to the sounds of the nocturnal activity outside.
