Hanoi – Cuc Phuong – Van Long Bird Watching 3 Days tour

Cuc Phuong National Park is the first recognized and most well protected nature reserve in Vietnam. The Park’s primary tropical rainforest is home to an amazing variety of wildlife and in recent years several species have been discovered here. (Check bird list of Cuc Phuong)

Van Long Nature Reserve is a popular destination in Northern Vietnam, over 3,500 ha, 2745 ha of which is under the natural reserve’s management. The area frequently inundated with water is more than 400 ha.. And it is famous for its diversity in the ecosystem with many rare animals is Van Long Nature Reserve that it has not only attracted millions of foreign and domestic tourists but also attracted the attention of many researchers and nature reservation organizations in the world. Van Long is also one of the last wild refuges of the endangered Delacour’s langur (population roughly 120).

Van Long Natural Reserve for birding, can watching some special birds as Rallina eurizonoides, Hydrophasianus chirurgus, Lxobrychus flavicollis, Anas clypeata, Anas falcata and special trachypithecus delacouri langur. Most popular with birdwatchers. And sometime appearing some bird species that have been spotted here are the rare black-faced spoonbill, cotton pygmy goose and white-browed crake.

1. Itinerary

Day 1:  Hanoi –  Cuc Phuong National Park bird watch (L/D)

7:30 Pick up at your hotel in Hanoi, then transfer to Cuc Phuong National Park 130km south of Hanoi. Upon arrive visit the Endangered Primate Rescue Centre. Check in the Guest House inside the park. Have Lunch. In the afternoon we observe the birds gathering in the Botanical Garden and in the lush rain forest for looking birds. Have Dinner and stay overnight in Cuc Phuong national park.

Evening: Enjoy night watch which include civets, owls, flying squirrels, lorises, bats and cats.

Day 2: Cuc Phuong National Park bird watch (B/L/D)

Spend another day bird watching. Drive 20km through the rain forest to the Bong Station, then follow a circular route viewing a variety of endangered bird species. The 6-km trail passes through a wood of giant trees, some of which are over 1000 years old. Return to the guesthouse in late afternoon. Dinner, relax and overnight inside the park.

Day 3:  Van Long Nature Reserve Delacour’s langur & bird watch - Hanoi (B/L)

Have breakfast , then depart to Van Long Nature Reserve. Upon arrive, take the tiny bamboo boat to visit the “preserving nature area” with Karst landscape and land under the water.  See the water birds as  watching some special birds as Rallina eurizonoides, Hydrophasianus chirurgus, Lxobrychus flavicollis, Anas clypeata, Anas falcata and special trachypithecus delacouri langurs. after 2.5 hours boat ride. Have lunch at local restaurant After lunch, drive to center of Van Long Nature Reserve to check the birds & langurs in wild trails.

Late afternoon, take car back for drive back to Hanoi. Arrive Hanoi at around 7.00pm. End of tour.
